This service is available to Global Payments customers who are accepted for acquiring services and is subject to the approval and terms & conditions. Your card machine’s banking window function must be performed before the set time in order to receive settlement the next banking day. Transactions processed via Ecommerce pay pages, pay by link and virtual terminals may be subject to different settlement timescales.
*Lines are open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, except public holidays. If you have a speech or hearing impairment, you can call us using the Relay Service by dialling 18001 followed by 0800 0612535. Calls may be recorded. To help us continually improve on our service and in the interests of security, we may monitor and/or record your telephone calls with us. Any recordings remain our sole property.

Genius mobile pay FAQs
Genius mobile pay allows you to accept contactless card payments and digital wallets with a phone. You don’t need to plug any additional hardware into your phone to make it work. That’s because tap to pay works through Near Field Communications (NFC), which is a short-range wireless technology that enables communication between devices and contactless cards.
A mobile card machine is a traditional payment terminal that accepts physical cards, whereas a card reader is typically inserted into a mobile phone to accept physical cards, mobile wallets or contactless cards.
That depends on whether you’re using an iPhone or Android device:
Genius mobile pay is designed from the ground up to protect your customers’ personal information. Payment card information is encrypted so card numbers aren’t visible (and can’t be detected by fraudsters) on your phone.
Genius mobile pay also uses tokenisation so the smartphone or device never stores customer cardholder data and cannot be used for any other transactions.
Genius mobile pay is compatible with the Contactless Payments on COTS (CPoC) standard from the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) and is PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant.
All credit or debit card information stays between Global Payments, your customer and the card issuer and is used purely to authorise and process the transaction.
Tap to Pay on Android requires an operating system of Android 9 or later, with Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled.
Tap to Pay on iPhone requires iPhone XS or later, running iOS 17 or higher with NFC enabled.
We advise asking your customer to try the transaction with a digital wallet. We also can retry the contactless transaction through a QR code online payment. This method also allows you to accept payments from customers who have reached their £100 contactless card limit.
Yes, our Genius mobile pay app allows you to process refunds quickly and easily — right from your phone.
You can accept contactless payments from debit and credit cards issued by Visa and Mastercard as standard on Genius mobile pay, along with all digital wallets, including Apple Pay and Google Pay.
With next day settlement, typically you receive funds by noon on the next business day.
Yes, you can accept payments over wifi, mobile (4G/5G) or with Bluetooth® connectivity. You can even take payments from a smartwatch or any NFC-enabled device.
